Dyson is shifting the focus of hair care to the roots with Dyson Amino™, the brand’s first scalp-focused formulation in the beauty category. According to clinical results, the foam formula helps reduce hair loss by 63 percent and oiliness by 62 percent, while supporting the scalp barrier to promote an ideal environment for healthy hair growth.
Known for its performance-driven technologies in hair care, Dyson is now redirecting attention from hair strands to the scalp. With its new generation scalp care product Dyson Amino™, the brand emphasizes the idea that the foundation of healthy hair lies in a balanced scalp.
Developed in a foam-serum format, the leave-in treatment is designed to hydrate, protect, and strengthen the scalp. Clinical results indicate that with regular use, the formula helps reduce hair loss by 63 percent and scalp oiliness by 62 percent. In addition, a visible reduction in dandruff was observed in 88 percent of users.
A formula extending from farm to laboratory
At the center of Dyson Amino™’s formulation is the Dyson Amino11™ complex. This blend was developed by combining ingredients derived from barley grown by Dyson Farming with 11 different amino acids.
Barley stands out as a key ingredient supporting hair roots thanks to its richness in vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants. The formula is further strengthened with active ingredients also widely used in skincare, including niacinamide, Ectoin Natural®, and caffeine.
James Dyson, founder and chief engineer of the brand, describes the development process as follows:
“Although agriculture and beauty may appear to be very different fields, both are rooted in science. We use the amino acid profile of barley grown by Dyson Farming to support the scalp’s barrier function. This approach provides a strong foundation for healthier hair.”

The key to hair health: Scalp balance
Research shows that a healthy scalp plays a decisive role in strong and high-quality hair growth. However, problems such as excess oil, itching, and barrier disruption can negatively affect the scalp’s balance.
Dyson Amino™ aims to address these issues by helping regulate the scalp’s moisture and oil balance. According to clinical tests, the formula can:
* Increase scalp hydration by up to 65 percent
* Reduce oiliness by 62 percent
* Decrease hair loss by 63 percent with regular use
Thanks to its lightweight foam-serum structure, the product can be applied without leaving a greasy or sticky feeling on the scalp. In user testing, 94 percent of participants reported that their hair did not feel heavy after application.
A new part of the Dyson hair care ecosystem
With Dyson Amino™, the brand is expanding its formulation range that approaches hair care as a holistic system:
* Dyson Chitosan™ helps maintain and define hairstyles.
* Dyson Omega™ supports hair strength and helps preserve a healthy appearance.
* Dyson Amino™ protects the scalp and supports long-term hair health.
These products are designed to work in harmony with Dyson’s hair styling technologies, offering a comprehensive hair care approach from root to tip.
